Location
Atherton Tablelands Birdwatchers’ Cabin is at 114 Webster Road, Wondecla, on the western edge of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, in the Herberton Range, 25 minutes south of Atherton (or 25 minutes southwest of Yungaburra).
Travelling by car from Cairns via Kuranda or Yungaburra takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. You will find the entrance to our property 1.1kms from the turn-off into Webster Rd., on the right hand side, about 100m after the second small bridge. There is a stake by the side of the road with the number 114 on it, and a wooden “Birdwatchers’ Cabin” sign on the open gate.
Being close to the end of a no-through road and adjoining Mount Hypipamee (“The Crater”) and Herberton Range National Parks (more than 7100ha of forest), you can really get away. And all this only 25 minutes away from Atherton, with a sealed road right to our gate! Our 35 acre property is completely covered by tall forest, without any fences, so wildlife travels freely between the National Park and our Nature Refuge.
